Index
We are excited to announce that Heroes and Spells: Realm of Thaloria, our first core set, has officially entered the play testing stage.
This is a major step forward for the game. Realm of Thaloria is the beginning of the Heroes and Spells universe, a fantasy tabletop card and strategy game built around tactical battles, powerful Wizards, spell casting, territory control, and 3D printed game pieces.
The game combines two things we love: TCG-style cards and physical 3D printed tabletop assets. Players command fantasy factions, summon warriors, cast spells, fight across the battlefield, and try to defeat rival Wizards or conquer enough territory to claim victory.
What Is Heroes and Spells?
Heroes and Spells is a fantasy strategy game set in the world of Thaloria, a realm filled with rival kingdoms, ancient magic, powerful Wizards, and dangerous conflict.
The first core set, Realm of Thaloria, introduces the foundation of the game. This includes the first five playable Wizards, the starting factions, the core rules, the game lore, the first 100 Spell cards, and the 3D printable battlefield and game assets needed to begin playing.
Our goal is to create a game that feels exciting, tactical, and easy to understand, while still allowing room for deeper strategy, future expansions, and memorable moments around the table.
Play Testing Has Now Begun
Realm of Thaloria is now undergoing play testing.
During this stage, we will be testing the rules, card balance, Wizard abilities, combat flow, turn structure, and how the game feels during real play. Play testing is one of the most important parts of creating a tabletop game, because it helps us see what works well, what needs improvement, and where the game can become clearer, smoother, and more fun.
We are looking for constructive feedback from players who are interested in trying the game and helping shape its future.
Feedback during the play test may include:
- whether the rules are easy to understand
- whether the cards feel balanced
- whether any Wizard abilities feel too strong or too weak
- whether the game pace feels right
- whether combat and movement are clear
- whether the card wording makes sense
- whether the game is enjoyable to play
- any ideas that may improve the overall experience
All helpful feedback during the play test stage is welcome.
Downloadable Play Test Assets Are Coming
To make the game easier to try, we will be making play test assets available on the website.
These will include printable card files and 3D model files so players can build and test the game themselves.
We plan to make the following available:
- the first 100 core cards as a printable PDF
- the first 5 Wizards as printable cards
- the core game rules
- the game lore
- 3D printable STL files for the game assets
- supporting files and references to help players understand and play the game
The first 100 cards and the first 5 Wizards will be released in a printable PDF format so players can print, cut, sleeve, and begin testing the game.
The game is built around 3D printed assets, and we will also be releasing the STL files on the website so players with access to a 3D printer can create the physical game pieces.
Rules and Lore Are Now Available
The Play Test Rules and the Realm of Thaloria Lore are now available on the website.
The rules explain how the game works, including setup, movement, combat, Spell types, Wizard attacks, victory conditions, and advanced clarifications.
The lore introduces the world of Thaloria and gives players a deeper understanding of the story behind the game. It explains the fantasy setting, the conflict between the factions, and the forces driving the battle for control of the realm.
We want Heroes and Spells to be more than just a set of rules and cards. We want players to feel connected to the world, the factions, the Wizards, and the story behind the battle.
The Card Database Is Being Built
We are also working on adding the full 105 cards to the website card database.
This will include the first 100 core cards and the first 5 Wizard cards. The database will help players search, read, and understand each card more easily.
Each card entry will include rulings and clear explanations where needed, so the game is easier to learn and play. As the game develops, the card database will become an important reference for players, play testers, and future expansions.
Our aim is to make the game as clear and accessible as possible, especially during the play test stage.
Built for Cards, Strategy and 3D Printed Tabletop Play
One of the things that makes Heroes and Spells different is the way it combines printable cards with 3D printed game pieces.
The card system brings variety, surprise, Spells, Reactions, Relics, Traps, Charms, Curses, and tactical choices.
The 3D printed assets give the game a physical tabletop presence. Players can move Warriors, control tiles, place banners, and see the battle for Thaloria unfold in front of them.
This combination gives Heroes and Spells the feel of a fantasy card game and a tabletop battle game at the same time.
We Would Love Your Feedback
Play testing is about improving the game, and we would love to hear from people who try it.
If you download the rules, print the cards, test the 3D assets, or play a match with friends, your feedback can help us make Heroes and Spells better.
We are especially interested in feedback that is clear, constructive, and based on actual gameplay. If something feels confusing, too powerful, too weak, too slow, or especially fun, we want to know.
Realm of Thaloria is the beginning of the Heroes and Spells journey, and community feedback will help shape the game as it moves forward.
